About the event

Would you like to know what life was like in Medieval Dunster? What people believed in, what they were afraid of and how these beliefs moulded their lives? Or perhaps you live in an old house and have found strange marks on the walls, around the doors and windows, and would like to know what they were carved for?
Author of the ‘Magical House Protection: The Archaeology of Counter-Witchcraft’ Brian Hoggard, will give an intriguing talk about the great number of witch bottles, dried cats, horse skulls, written charms and protective markings that have been discovered in the fabric of numerous buildings throughout the British Isles - and also in Dunster!
